Hi Zelna. I am the project manager for our companys corporate social investment project. One of our projects is the SATlings where we have adopted 5 grade 8 learners from a previously disadvantaged school. The programme offers financial aide, after school tutoring in Math and English and as of this year we have offered them Equal Zeal with Angelique in Melkbos. These kids come from very poor backgrounds and have to deal with all the related socio economic issues. We have seen some amazing progress with the kids confidence since visiting Angelique. I am constantly chatting to them, enquiring about the Equal Zeal lessons. They absolutely love it! Space Age Technologies would like to thank you and Angelique for the great work. Together with some partnerships we are hoping to adopt 5 more learners this year and are looking forward to exposing them to Equal Zeal.

The reserach behind the chewing of gum shows how it can increase concentration through the susuatined rythym of the chewing, children then remin quieter for longer, tke fewer breeaks nd enerally susatin their attention longer than they usually would. The action of heweing increases blood flow to the brain, which too sounds positive. BUT, chewing gum also has side effects:prolonged stimulation of the brain to cause the release of highly acidic digestive juices to an empty stomach, stomach burns and ulcers, hormonal disuptions...
So one needs to wirgh up the pro's and the cons in order to decide f it is something you want to do. Personally i think there are other healthier ways of stimulating and maintaining concentration in ADD.
